The new school year totally snuck* up on me! I am completely unprepared. I have done zero clothes or shoes shopping, and the last time I was in Target, I saw that school supplies were on sale, so I randomly grabbed essentials, but I didn't have my kids' lists, so I missed about half of what they need. My only saving grace is that I recently bought my boys new church clothes, so I know what sizes will fit without trying anything on them. Luckily they each have a fairly new pair of basketball shoes to wear, because I really don't want to tote four kids to town for school shopping. Nathan will be home next weekend, but I was hoping to steal away with a friend and get some of the shopping done sans kids. The boys are adimant that they pick out their own shoes, so I'm fine with waiting another week. Maybe I'll send dad to town with them to shop for shoes. (With my luck they's skip the shoes and come home with Wii games, or worse, both!)
School starts August 25th! That's only fifteen days away!
* Grammar note from Webster's dictionary: "From it's earliest appearance in print in the late 19th century as a dialectal and probably uneducated form, the past and past participle snuck has risen to the status of standard and to approximate equality with sneaked. Indications are that it is continuing to grow in frequency. It is most common in the U.S. and Canada, but has also been spotted in British and Austrialian English." So, there you have it. Snuck is accepted as standard. You learn something new everyday.

I did all the clothes online, so I wouldn't have to take them all into town and drag them from store to store to find the perfect shirts for Wyatt (OH BOY PICKY!). Hooray for school!
ReplyDeleteI am in the same boat as you. How did school get to be only two weeks away? I mean, I am very excited for that blessed event but we still have all the doctor appointments, dentist for Hannah, school shopping, meeting with Hyrum's teacher about his allergies/asthma, etc.....! I am feeling a little stressed (who am I kidding, a lot stressed!).
ReplyDeleteOur school starts the day after yours. I'm on the hunt too!
ReplyDeleteNice to know I'm not the only one waiting until the last minute.
