About a month ago my mother-in-law told me about some skirt patterns that she purchased. One was circular like a poodle skirt. The other was a tiered pattern. These to designs got me thinking... I could just sew them onto T-shirts. With those to two designs plus the basic, gathered version, I could sew three varieties of dresses all with the same basic concept. Well, once we started making the two new versions we didn't bother with the old, gathered version. I have to apologize for my photos. The younger model was not cooperating with my desire for photos. I made these as play dresses, which means that I'm lucky if I can get a picture of them clean.
The first time she wore this one, I thought it looked a little bit like a Pasco cheer outfit, and it made me smile.

She wouldn't stand still while I took the picture, so here she is in motion wearing the purple dress.

Mazie, on the other hand, was happy to pose. This one turned out really cute.

I bought this lime green shirt without really knowing what I would put on it. Michael Jeane had this tutti-fruit fabric left over from another project, and it matched perfectly. Josie was enthralled with the quilting square and wouldn't let go of it for the photo.

This is the tiered pattern. I just cut strips and sergered the edges, then sewed them on top of the shirt in tiers. It turned out very cute.

Here is the matching set.

These are Josie's other two. Mazie has one to match each.

I have fabric and shirts for a few more, but I am so excited about them that I had to post pictures now. As you can see, I cannot do any creative thing in moderation!
Those turned out so cute. And look like my kind of sewing. Pretty basic!
ReplyDeleteVery cute outfits with VERY cute material. Great idea!!
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute... you are so clever!

ReplyDeleteSuper Cute!
ReplyDeleteSoooo cute! Perfect play dresses. I love this idea because Ella ALWAYS insists on wearing her fancy dresses as much as possible. I let her because I know she should get as much use as possible from them, but these are way more appropriate. Go PHS!!! Ella loves to play with my old pom poms (I kept one pair)
