Why Mormons Build Temples

There has been a lot of talk and some angry emails going around about HBO's series Big Love and how they plan to portray the LDS temple ceremony. I cannot figure out how to get the YouTube video onto this blog page, but I did copy the link to the short video put out by the church this week entitled, "Why Mormons Build Temples" which can be viewed at this link:

I know that most people who read my blog are LDS, so they already understand why we build temples, and that no amount of mocking by HBO will ever deter us from worshiping in temples. But, if there is someone reading this blog who is not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, please know that we love our sacred temples and the holy ordinances that take place there. We don't speak of them or air them on television out of reverence to God. Everything that takes place in temples is holy and in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
