Tired of Twilight

I was surfing through Etsy today. I saw a custom order request from someone who wants Twilight seat covers and floor mats for her car. Another one was for a custom made necklace in the Cullen crest like the one Rosalee wears in the movie. (I haven't even seen the movie yet. It was one of those that I was completely willing to wait and see on DVD some night when Nathan has to work or would rather play Warcraft.) There are whole Etsy shops with Twilight inspired jewelry: silver crests, Scrabble tile necklaces, vampire inspired bracelets. I'm surfing through this stuff and rolling my eyes thinking, "Are people still buying this stuff?" I guess they are, but as far as this reader is concerned, I am officially tired of Twilight. I think the hype the actors in the movie are getting is borderline ridiculous. I might watch Twilight on DVD, but I probably won't watch New Moon at all.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the series. I recommended the first book to all my friends long before New Moon ever hit the shelves. But now, three years later, I'm ready to move on. So, tell me, what's the next big thing?

  1. I loved Twilight and saw the movie. But I am amazed about woman's obsessions with it. Really do they want to wear jewelry and have carseats showing off that they love a fictional character?!! No thanks. If you have some good book recommendations I'd like to know them. I don't know what the next best thing is going to be but I do hope these crazy ladies get over Twilight soon!

  3. I didn't watch the movie yet either... and I'm not even excited about it any more. I would like a new series to follow... if you know of anything let me know!

  4. Okay, I'll be the official dork. I still like the books and movies. I won't be buying jewelry or car seat covers, but I will be buying Twilight on Saturday and I do have the release dates for New Moon and Eclipse already on my calendar. For me, it's a great, innocent, guilty pleasure and I can reread the books and still go away to a fun fantasy. For the record, I'm just as excited for Green Day's new album out in May. With so much @%$&%# going on right now, I need a stress-free book. With that said, I won't be making a pilgrimage to Forks, WA.
I do have to say that I'm enjoying the Odd Thomas series a lot.

  6. Dude, I totally want Twilight floor mats.

So I can stop my dirty, muddy, sloshy boots all over that slanderous filth. Might even make it look BETTER if my boots are muddy enough.
